Alexis froze, and so did I.
I noticed the group of women who had been gossiping with Ruby earlier were now covering their mouths, stifling their laughter.
Sensing something was off, Alexis leaned in to ask softly, "What's going on?"
I pulled her aside and whispered, "Elijah and I got a divorce."
She was stunned. "That fast? Okay, my bad. I thought you and Elijah came here together today. No wonder I heard someone say Logan's fiancée has the last name York. I thought it was just a crazy coincidence."
Her hands gestured animatedly as she spoke, her expressions lively. It was obvious she had been living abroad for quite some time.
Seeing an old friend again filled me with joy, and I took the opportunity to catch up on her life.
She smiled warmly. "Not bad. I'm planning to invest back home. After weighing my options, I think Marina City offers the most opportunities. By the way, Ari, now that you're engaged to such a wealthy fiancé, remember to take me along for the ride."
