Chapter 427
Lora's words left both Teri and me stunned for a moment.
Teri snapped back to reality and hugged Lora tightly. "Lora, you've really… been through so much."
Then she turned to me. "But Ari, you can't keep falling into this. You've finally gotten out of the hole, and as your best friend, I can't just watch you go down the wrong path again."
She held up the car keys and gestured with her chin. "Come with me."
I hesitated for two seconds, then decided to follow.
Half an hour later, Teri and I arrived at a remote beach. The sun was setting, and the crimson glow of the evening sky shimmered on the surface of the sea, casting a golden shine.
I suddenly realized how beautiful this familiar place was, and the heaviness in my heart lightened just a little.
Teri struggled to pull a metal bucket from the car and placed it on the sand. I watched her, confused about what she was doing.
After setting everything up, Teri checked the direction of the wind and then took out a lighter. "Burn it."
