Chapter 346
Jocelyn's face fell, her eyes seeming to brim with tears. "Do you hate me now, Elijah?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Elijah suppressed a surge of irritation. Sitting on the couch, his expression remained cold. "Don't cry. It's not that I hate you. I just need some space to figure things out," he said, his tone distant.
Noticing his tone soften, Jocelyn dabbed at her eyes, though there were no tears to be seen. She flashed him a sweet smile and pulled a thermos from her bag.
"Elijah, I know you haven't had much of an appetite lately, so I made your favorite pumpkin soup. Try some," she said, carefully ladling the soup into a bowl and placing it in front of him.
Elijah looked at the familiar soup, memories pulling him momentarily into the past.
