Chapter 23

"No, no… Rena," Elliot begged. He wanted to run to Serena—the woman he loved—and hold her close. He was afraid that this might be his last chance. Just as he was about to reach her, someone pushed the door open, yanked him back, and stepped in front of Serena, shielding her. Elliot was ready to snap when he heard Serena's voice, surprised and cheerful. "Julian, what brings you here?" Only then did Elliot realize that this was the man she would marry. "I heard your brother was here, so I came to greet him." Julian's words sounded polite, but his tone was freezing, his glare slicing through Elliot like a bitter chill. "Stay in your lane. You blew your chance with her. So don't make a fool of yourself by slinking back now." Elliot clenched his fists, his face twisted in rage as he yelled, "This is between Rena and me! Get out of the way!" Julian didn't back down. He stayed planted in front of Serena. "She's my fiancée now. She's with me, Elliot. Who the hell do you think you are?
