Chapter 4

Caleb's eyes widened in shock. "I..." He started to say something, but the corners of Sophia's lips hooked upward in a sarcastic smirk. "Relax, I was joking. I'm not pregnant—I just came for a routine checkup." Caleb froze for a moment before a frown furrowed his brows. "Why are you getting a checkup out of nowhere?" Sophia replied calmly, "I wasn't feeling well. What about you? Were you here to accompany Christine?" Awkwardly, he forced a light cough. "Don't overthink it. I just happened to run into Christine, so I thought I'd bring her here." The explanation was vague and lacked genuine concern for Sophia's health from the beginning to the end. Anyhow, she had long grown numb to this kind of treatment. She simply said, "I have class. I'm off now." Then, she turned and walked away. As she strode toward the hospital entrance, Caleb never came after her. … Sophia headed straight back to campus. She couldn't tell if it was her imagination, but she felt like people were whispering and pointing at her wherever she went. It felt strange, but she brushed it off until she reached her dorm room. As soon as she opened the door, her roommate rushed over in a panic. "Sophia! There's trouble!" Emily Carter slid a phone in front of her, visibly distressed. "The school forum is flooded with photos of you—you know, those kinds of photos!" A loud buzzing filled Sophia's mind. She grabbed the phone for a closer look. Sure enough, the screen was covered with indecent images. But the moment she saw them, she let out a slight breath of relief. "These photos are edited," she said immediately. "Not a single one is real." For a split second, she had truly feared that Caleb had taken pictures of her and posted them online. Thankfully, those images were all fake. Emily sighed helplessly. "Of course, I know that. You have a birthmark on your leg, and none of these pictures show it—they're obviously fake. But people online don't care about the truth! Look at the comments—they're awful... Wait, Sophia, what are you doing?" She had pulled out her phone without hesitation. "Calling the police, of course," she said coldly. "I trust them to track down whoever posted this nonsense." She could tolerate casual jokes, but this was far beyond acceptable. She wasn't going to stay silent and let something this serious slide. However, before she could even dial the number, her other roommate burst into the room. Panic was written all over her face. "Sophia! Your boyfriend got into a fight with someone!"
