Chapter 44 The Failed Seduction.
The days following Kai’s talk with Misha were relatively quiet. She kept her distance, and for a moment, it seemed like she had taken his words to heart. However, I remained vigilant, knowing that someone with ulterior motives rarely gave up so easily.
One evening, after a long day at the school, Kai and I were unwinding in the living room. Lily was already asleep, and the house was quiet, save for the occasional creak of the wooden floors.
“Are you sure everything’s okay with Misha?” I asked, leaning against Kai’s shoulder.
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I think so. She’s been keeping her distance. Maybe she finally got the message.”
“I hope so,” I said, though a part of me remained skeptical. “Let’s just keep an eye on things.”
Kai nodded, his eyes heavy with fatigue. “I will. But for now, let’s try to relax and enjoy the evening.”
