Chapter 20: Deception Cuts Deep
"Dad, I'm fine. Thank you. Now go home and get some rest." I looked at my father with some concern.
It was not safe to heal people with alpha power, as it took a lot of energy and the success of trying was always uncertain. Few alphas would be willing to use it unless it was an extreme emergency or somebody very dear to them, a loved one.
Letting out a shaky sigh, my father shook his head and held my hand. "I'm fine. I'm just worried about you. I heard from Hank that you've become very close to Edmond lately. Is he the reason you got hurt?"
I kept silent, not denying it. Edmond was the reason I got into a fight with Irene, so it was indeed right to blame him.
It was only a matter of time before my father found out about my relationship with Edmond, so I wasn't surprised when he asked, but I wondered why he thought to bring it up at that time.
"My silly daughter, can't you see that you have been fooled by him!" My father said painfully and looked at me sadly.
"No I haven't!" I shouted.
