"Shirley?" Janine looked at Shirley with concern.
Shirley kept her gaze fixed on Damian, who was still peacefully asleep in her arms.
Samuel watched Shirley's face with a pained look. He pulled out her phone and said calmly, "Shirley, I brought your phone. Can you come out for a moment?"
She didn't respond, ignoring him entirely.
Just then, the gates to the Gray residence opened. Without sparing Samuel a glance, Shirley ordered the driver, "Go ahead. Don't worry about him."
"Shirley!" As the car inched forward, Samuel's voice grew louder.
Her chest tightened involuntarily, but she forced herself to close her eyes, shutting away the sound of his voice.
There was no reason for him to come here in person. It was unnecessary and only made things worse. They were once so close, but now the gap between them was immeasurable.
If Samuel had any sense, he would have left the phone with the security staff. That would have been the sensible, dignified thing to do.
