CHAPTER SEVENTY EIGHT – TIRED OF HIS LATENESS
"Because it's not enough, Logan!" Deonna cried out. "It's not enough to just show up occasionally and expect everything to be okay. This isn't just about you anymore. We're supposed to be partners, a team. But I feel like I'm in this alone."
Logan stopped pacing, turning to face her. His face was a mask of anguish. "You're not alone, Deonna. I'm here. I'm right here."
"Are you?" Deonna challenged. "Because it doesn't feel like it. It feels like our marriage is falling apart, and you're too busy or too scared to even notice."
The words seemed to hit Logan like a physical blow. He staggered back, sinking onto the bed once more. "Is that... is that really how you feel?"
Deonna nodded, wrapping her arms around herself protectively. "Yes. And it's killing me, Logan. I love you. I want this family with you. But I can't do it alone. I need you – really need you – not just the idea of you."
