"This all sounds very promising," Logan said cautiously, "but I'll need time to review the details with our legal team."
Zhao's smile tightened. "Of course. But I should warn you, Mr. Maine, this offer is time-sensitive. The longer you wait, the less... favorable the terms may become."
The implied threat was clear. Logan felt backed into a corner. He knew he should consult with his father and the board before making any decisions, but the pressure to resolve the crisis quickly was overwhelming.
"Alright," he said finally. "I'll agree in principle, pending final approval from our board."
As they shook hands, Logan couldn't shake the feeling that he had just made a terrible mistake.
The drive back to the city was a blur of conflicting emotions. Logan knew he should feel triumphant – he had potentially found a way out of their current crisis. But instead, he felt a gnawing anxiety in the pit of his stomach.
