Deonna nodded, stepping closer to Logan. "That's right, Mom. We appreciate your concern, but you need to respect our boundaries. No more surprise visits, no more criticizing our parenting, and absolutely no more using that emergency key unless it's an actual emergency."
Marjorie's mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water, clearly not used to being confronted by both her daughter and son-in-law.
"Well, I never!" she finally sputtered. "If this is how you treat someone who only wants to help, then perhaps I should just wash my hands of this entire situation!"
"Perhaps you should," Logan agreed, wrapping an arm around Deonna's waist.
Marjorie looked between them, realizing she was fighting a losing battle. With a dramatic sigh, she turned on her heel. "Fine. But don't come crying to me when everything falls apart!"
As the front door slammed behind Marjorie, Logan and Deonna looked at each other and burst into laughter, the tension of their earlier argument dissipating.
