CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY SEVEN - When the Heart Takes Over

The pieces started falling into place in Deonna's mind. Mark's sudden betrayal, the speed at which David had gained board support – it all made sense now. "Why are you telling me this?" Deonna asked, still wary. Andrea's face hardened. "Because what David's doing isn't right. I've worked for him for years, and I've seen how he operates. He doesn't care about the company or its people. He only cares about power." Deonna nodded slowly, her mind already racing with the implications of this information. "Do you have any proof? Anything we can use?" Andrea shook her head. "Nothing concrete. But..." she hesitated, then seemed to make up her mind. "I know where David keeps his personal files. Files I'm not supposed to know about. If you could get access to his office..." The seed of a plan began to form in Deonna's mind. It was risky, potentially illegal, but it might be their only chance. "Thank you, Andrea," Deonna said earnestly. "I know how much you're risking by telling me this."
