CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE – A REALIZATION
"Deonna," he said softly, sitting on the edge of the bed. "I think we need to talk about what happens when we get back."
Deonna nodded, her heart racing. She had known this conversation was coming, but that didn't make it any easier. "You're right," she agreed, sitting beside him.
Marcus took her hand in his, his touch gentle. "I want you to know that I care about you deeply. These past few months have been incredible, and I could easily see a future with you and Kayla."
Deonna felt tears welling up in her eyes. "Marcus, I-"
He held up a hand, silencing her gently. "Let me finish, please. I care about you, Deonna. But I can see that you're still conflicted about Logan. And I respect you too much to ask you to commit to me when your heart isn't fully in it."
A tear slipped down Deonna's cheek. "I'm so sorry, Marcus. You deserve better than this."
