CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE – THE OPPOSITION’S WORK
As she sat there, staring at her own face on the glossy cover, Deonna felt a tap on her shoulder. She looked up to see Logan standing there, his expression unreadable.
"Can we talk?" he asked quietly.
Wordlessly, Deonna nodded, scooting over to make room for him on the bench. Logan sat down, his eyes flicking to the magazine in her hands.
"I assume you've seen it," Deonna said, her voice hollow.
Logan nodded. "Deonna, I want you to know... I had nothing to do with this. I would never..."
"Wouldn't you?" Deonna interrupted, a bitter edge to her voice. "Isn't this exactly the kind of thing your high-powered legal team would do? Dig up dirt, discredit the opposition?"
Logan's face flushed. "I told them I didn't want to play dirty. I swear, Deonna, if I had known they were going to do this..."
"But you didn't stop them," Deonna finished for him. "You let it happen."
