Chapter 6
The following day, Aurora had just zipped up her luggage when Timothy came over.
Timothy said respectfully, "Professor Reed, I'm here to help you move your things."
Aurora nodded agreeably. After all, she had quite a bit of luggage bogging her down. She had packed her clothes in one suitcase. Unfortunately, the problem lay in her books as they had taken residence in several boxes, filling the trunk of her car to the brim.
Cordia was situated near Astrait University. It was merely a bridge away and located near the seaside. This particular area was well known in Zanzimar for its scenic waterfront luxury apartments.
Owen's unit was on the 37th floor, boasting over 3,000 square feet and a panoramic ocean view. It even had a private elevator.
Aurora was beyond satisfied with the apartment's decor. The only downside to it was that there were only two rooms available. One was an elegant master bedroom while the other was a study that could very well be a private library.
The unit also had an airy living room with a far too spacious balcony. Nonetheless, she noticed that the unit had been stocked with clothes, shoes, and an assortment of daily necessities.
Once Timothy brought all of Aurora's boxes into the unit, he said, "Professor Reed, Mr. Jenson likes his peace and quiet. He has hired help to clean things up and a maid of sorts to whip up a meal. If you wish, please place an order for any particular food you'd like."
Then, he pointed at the tablet. "Here's your smart assistant, and you can use it to contact the staff. I've taken the liberty to save your information in it. So, all you have to do is stay still briefly in order to allow the door to unlock after it scans your face."
"Alright. I understand. Thank you for your help."
Aurora had finished unpacking her things by the time Timothy left her to her own devices.
Once she was satisfied, she changed her outfit and jogged a few laps to familiarize herself with the area. She also stopped at the community grocer to get some shopping done, planning to cook her own food.
Although Aurora was swamped with work, she was never one to spend her leisure time carelessly. In fact, cooking was a way for her to unwind and enjoy her alone time.
According to Helena, her culinary skills were akin to a five-star chef.
She whipped up seafood chowder, braised beef, cheese-baked shrimp, and roasted vegetables.
Aurora had just untied her apron and was about to dig in when she heard the door creak open.
Owen had been busy all day. So, he felt drained and couldn't be bothered to make the trip all the way to Calden Estate.
The unit was currently well-lit, signifying that he wasn't alone. Hence, he wasn't all that surprised to find Aurora sitting at the dining table with her cutlery in hand after entering.
It was apparent that she had been cooking moments ago, as the apron was carelessly tossed on a nearby chair.
Although Owen was unfazed, Aurora was rather caught off guard as she didn't expect him to return.
Regardless, her surprise was a fleeting one. She was currently in someone else's domain, so she naturally had to adapt to his presence.
"Good evening, Mr. Jenson. Would you like to join me for dinner?" Aurora offered calmly.
"Sure," Owen replied.
"You should wash your hands, then. I'll get another set of tableware for you."
The food was to Owen's taste. "You're a good cook. Did you take any classes?" he asked, putting his cutlery aside as he poured himself a glass of water.
Aurora raised her head to look at him and nodded. "Cooking helps me de-stress. It's also a basic survival skill."
Owen played with the glass in his hand as he watched her tuck into her meal.
Then, he commented, "Timothy told me you were quick to sign the papers. I had assumed you would put forth several requests to secure your interests, like the amount of compensation you'll receive once we part ways in the future."
Aurora's hands froze in the air as she considered his words.
After a while, she looked at him straight in the eyes and replied solemnly, "Overthinking leads to unnecessary strife. Plus, this is beyond my control. You don't need to feel concerned that I'm after your money.
"It's true that I chose you because of your outstanding qualities. You're rich and good-looking, so I don't have to worry about being the breadwinner. Honestly, what's not to like?"
