Chapter 168 Driven Insane
Julianna acknowledged that Elvis was making a good point. His remarks were not good for her reputation as an unmarried woman. But it was unsettling to suddenly find herself with an unexpected husband, and it irritated her to see Elvis so pleased.
"Why are you so proud of yourself? Just because you found an excuse to say that doesn't mean it’s true," Julianna retorted, dampening Elvis's enthusiasm.
His smile faded. He felt he had been obvious about his feelings during the past few days. He decided not to dwell on it any longer because it seemed pointless to continue the argument.
"Never mind, I won't argue with you. I'll pretend I didn't hear what you said," Elvis said, trying to dismiss the situation.
Julianna huffed as she thought about how Sean had been so visibly affected by Elvis earlier. It was unfair for Elvis to provoke Sean when he was already so troubled. Elvis's words had probably made things even harder for him to handle.
